Victor Manullang and Jennifer Saltmarsh met as students in Walla Walla in 1982. 

Sparks did not fly. 

A few years later Jen and her friends prank phone-called the guys' dorm and got Vic's room. Jen got stuck talking to him. He and his dork friends tried to embarrass Jen and her cool friends after that, but actually, the dorks were thrilled to be on speaking terms with freshman girls. Within a few months, Jen and Vic became good friends but it was still another five years or so before they both lowered their standards enough to date each other.

They were married in 1997 and lived happily ever after-ish.

"When our story is told,
and it will be told 
in song and fable and interpretive dance 
and puppet show, people will weep with joy 
and, through sobs, say, 
'Today we have witnessed love. 
How can our lives not be bettered by this?'

Okay, the puppet show response
may not be so strong.
People may not be ready for puppets."
