Here are a few fun ways to waste your time. The links will take you to other pages in manullang.com or other sites outside of ours. If you click on an external hyperlink, it will open in a new browser window. This page was last updated Friday, August 24, 2007

  • A few dad-related pieces that are priceless: Lamentations of the Father, Application to date my daughter and Daddy's rules for dating.

  • Kicks & Giggles: Images and/or text that have, at one time, been published somewhere at manullang.com

  • An unusual dice game, here's the electronic version of Pass the Pigs

  • Local classifieds are just the beginning: spend some time at Craigslist. I love the "best-of" section.

  • Enjoy writing? Want to let other people read your masterpieces? Blogging is all the rage these days, and my personal favorite site is called Blogger. It's free, and can even be integrated into your web site (that's how I create our Latest News page).

  • Microsoft has a free program you can download from their web site that allows you to make little slide shows from digital images. It has some PowerPoint-like effects, but does even cooler things, and is super easy to learn. Completed shows can be viewed with Windows Media Player or other similar programs. Check out Microsoft Photo Story 3 here.

  • Wanna know what something means, but you're too embarrassed to admit you don't know? Consult the Urban Dictionary. Another good resource is Wikipedia.

  • If you receive suspicious e-mails promising you millions of dollars or warning of having your kidneys stolen, check out Snopes. Just about every urban legend that's ever existed is documented on this site.

  • Ooh la la! Check out my French language translator!

  • The Internet Movie Database has just about every piece of information you could possibly want to know about movies.

  • See what the letters in your name can be rearranged to spell with an Anagram Generator. Jennifer Manullang = Infernal Jungle Man (along with many other silly things). Careful, it's addictive.

  • Virtual Bubble Wrap!

  • Now, here's an error message! Page cannot be displayed
  • Are you pursuing a future as a gangsta? A porn star? A taxi driver? Do you need a pet name for your significant other? All the help you need can be found at Get a Gangsta Name!
  • What breed of dog are you? What's your emotional maturity? Your superpower? Check out emode, a site with lots of tests; some are even serious. There's an IQ test, stress test, and bunches of others. This should probably be in the "time waster" category, but it's definitely fun. (BTW, Vic is a Basset Hound, I'm an Irish Setter. Vic's superpower is invisibility and mine is time travel. Who knew???)

  • San Francisco is one of our favorite vacation destinations. Check out live views of the city with this link.

  • What does your phone number spell out? PhoneSpell will let you know.

  • Forgot to put your Ramadan cards in the mail on time? Lots of sites offer free e-cards; I like Hallmark and Amazon.

  • Subscribing to mailing lists is a good argument for getting another e-mail account to be used exclusively for junk mail. I highly recommend getting "e-mail for life" with Yahoo!. You'll be able to check your e-mail from any computer, and if you have other accounts with a POP3 server, you'll be able to access them through Yahoo! too. Other sites that offer free accounts are Netscape and Hotmail.

  • The Forrest Gallery is the site for a local artist who paints wonderful landscapes of the Northwest, California, Arizona, and France. We discovered her at Saturday Market a few years ago, and recently have been re-visiting the booth to make some new purchases. She will create custom "fourtychs," or you can purchase her artwork in various sizes and formats. Prices are very reasonable!
